Here is a commercial carpet cleaning concept that may sound sort of off the wall, but trust me it works! The cleaning professional I learned it from is financially astute and has operated this concept for many, many, years successfully. Following is his process:

KEY: Make Your Equipment Do Double Duty!

This concept isn’t fancy, and it certainly isn’t attractive to most carpet cleaners — But, It Works!

If your business needs a boost, this might just be what you are looking for!

More and more commercial and institutional users of carpeted floors are discovering that carpet care is not a job for amateurs, stimulating the resulting growth in demand for competent, skilled, carpet care services.

When you compare residential and commercial cleaning, there are many similarities as well as several outstanding differences. One of the major differences is the manner in which particle soil is viewed.

In residential cleaning, dry vacuuming to remove particle soil is performed, in most cases, only when visibly necessary.

In commercial carpet cleaning, dry particle soil removal is the mainstay of the cleaning program.

Don’t let the political propaganda about the need for job creation mess with your entrepreneurial mind! Your primary concern must be to make your little business as profitable as possible, and return both psychic as well as monetary rewards.

Healthy growth in your business is very important, but do not confuse “expansion” with “growth”. Poorly thought out expansion can also be quite dangerous to your business health!!

It’s a FACT:
The real reason for your present success in your small business to this point has very much to do with your personality and your ability to project the kind of concern and confidence that wins a customer over. Your technical skills are far less important!

Now, at some point that will not be the case as you grow bigger!!
In short, the path to bigness is rough going in today’s market place, even if you have a tight grip on your business.

This is also a FACT:
There is an inherent weakness in small business growth that erodes profits exponentially, and it is called “LABOR”

There is an old farm saying that goes like this: “One boy = one worker— Two boys = half a worker, and Three boys = no worker at all.”
Unfortunately, you will find, as the number of your employees increases, time spent in idle talk or “standing around” increases, if it is nothing more than chatting civilly and greeting each other. It is a rare 2 person team that works as efficiently cleaning carpets as one well trained and well equipped technician.

Like it or not, this is reality 101!
A person working for him or herself is usually quite a bit more efficient and productive than a person working for another. The more persons grouped together working for another, the greater the inefficiency will increase.

When a cleaning business finds itself facing problems, especially inefficiency of employees, someone always recommends training as the ideal solution.Perhaps it is, but before you zero in on training as your salvation, slow down and examine your problem very carefully. Keep in your mind that there are other methods available for solving business problems that may be easier, less expensive and possibly better, that should be considered before making a decision that training is the way to go.Check out this article:

It’s the new reality!
That means, despite making yourself visible and acting as the face of your business – your message should not indicate that anything is really about you. Your message slant must be all about your customers and your prospects (potential customers).

It’s The Truth! People honestly don’t really care about your services.
People care about themselves, solving their own problems. But that is okay. This isn’t a bad thing. It simply requires a shift in your thinking from “service pusher” to “trusted resource”-which then creates your real opportunities.

I am not saying your service is NEVER mentioned or offered, I just mean, that when you shake someone’s hand online or off, you don’t lead with your service. Your service comes later.

By far, the number one repeated mistake that most cleaning professionals make when marketing and promoting online (and offline) today is to talk excessively about themselves … and how amazing their service or special equipment is.

If these thoughts concern you, make sure that you do not miss this July 20th “Cash Creation Event” at the City Center Marriot in Pittsburgh PA, where you will discover the top strategies that are working today by top cleaners & restorers.
